Exploring Kathiey's Not So Local World..."Raffaldini Vineyards" Ronda NC
Several weeks ago Joe and I decided to head to the mountains for our 34th wedding anniversary. We love the Blowing Rock area so we decided to head up there and do a bit of hiking off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Someone at work suggested that on our way we stop off at the Raffaldini Vineyards and Winery. She said it was not far off the highway and the wine was great and the setting beautiful. So I found it on line, plotted our course and off we went.......
Nice welcoming entrance.
Time for the tasting:-)
Wine is a fairly new treat for me. I have only been enjoying it for the last few years. I thought most of the wines at Raffaldini were wonderful. I usually shy away from the reds, I find them bitter, too strong for my developing wine palate. I lean a bit toward the slightly sweet whites. I must say thought that I could drink the reds at Raffaldini. No, I would not buy the red, but during the tasting I found them smooth and not at all bitter. I actually enjoyed them. The white wines at Raffaldini I loved. My favorite was the Vermentino Wine. Delicious! We bought one for Stephanie for her birthday.
I would have loved to have gone to this.
Maybe next year:-)
They had a small room with a few sculptures just off the tasting room area.
This is how I felt after the tasting. Long and lean and able to leap.
This is Joe my DD coming to the rescue.
(Actually I am the one who likes horses:-)
After the tasting we toured the grounds....Beautiful....
As we were leaving we pulled over to get a closer look at the grapes on the vine. Amazing!
If you get a chance and you are in the area take the time to visit Raffaldini Vineyards. It is well worth going out of your way. You will enjoy the beauty of the winery, the friendly people and of course the wine:-)
Enjoy your world everyone!
